Henry Cavill wants $10 million to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but what’s his secret role?

With the 4 hour ‘Snyder Cut’ of Justice League releasing soon, there has been some buzz about what Henry Cavill’s next superhero role will be. With his time playing Superman seemingly coming to an end, he’s reportedly been in talks to play a character in the MCU. I’ll be looking at a number of possibilities, and how these roles would fit into the shared universe as it moves into phase 4 and beyond.

1: Captain Britain

This character acts as the guardian of Britain, sporting the colors of the national flag, the UK’s own Captain America. His powers include flight and super strength, given to him by the magic of the wizard Merlyn. Henry would fit this role in appearances, and his matching accent. This is one character that Marvel is rumored to be considering for Cavill already.

The introduction of Captain Britain could bring in the magical setting of Otherworld, a medieval kingdom based of the legends of King Arthur. This would leave room for future characters and team-up films with the other British heroes in the ‘Excalibur’ team. With fellow Englishman the Black Knight being introduced in the upcoming 2021 film 'The Eternals', this could be a good introduction into Otherworld and it’s rich lore and mythology.

2: Hercules

This character is the ancient hero of myth in the modern day, and also seems well suited to Cavill. We've seen him with similar facial hair in the Mission Impossible series; and his training for Superman would suit this character who is similarly known for his strength and not wearing a shirt. This is an arrogant and funny character who'd have good chemistry with Chris Hemsworth's Thor.

Again this character could introduce a large world of ancient Greek and Roman mythology and associated characters for MCU phase 4. Characters such as Aries the god of war who is a frequent villian of Hercules. I'd see this character being introduced via a reference in 'The Eternals', because of his connection to Eternals member Gilgamesh/Samson, another ancient hero.

3: Hyperion

This choice has yet to have foreshadowing in the MCU, but in the comics this seems like an obvious casting for Cavill. Hyperion originated as a vague parody of Superman from DC comics, at a time when both publishing companies were competing. He appears in the Squadron Supreme team, a Justice League parody/copy. He has similar powers and even a name similar to Superman's Kryptonian name, Zhib-Ran. In the MCU, the casting of Cavill would be a fun reference, and also a tried and tested actor for this type of character, except more villainous.

4: Wonderman

Another Superman-like character from Marvel comics, that seems to have some set up already in the MCU. This character also has flight powers and a similar body type, so a perfect role for Cavill. We've seen a concept art picture of Simon Williams/Wonderman in the behind the scenes features of Wandvison already. This may tell us his character is being set up for future MCU projects. A good possible link is Vision, as the genetic template of the robot Vision comes from Wonderman in the comics. Another link is the Visionquest arc, where he refuses to give up his genetics to resore the White Vision, as seen in the final two episodes of Wandavison. Cavill can pull off the charming yet serious character, with a credible likelihood of being in future films.

What are your thoughts on these possibilities for Henry Cavill's secret Marvel role? Which is more likely, or do you have any other characters in mind?
